EPAS for me feels like a cradle which you share with many other beings. It creates a feeling of a special zone for listening to yourself, to the environment, to each other. It nurtures a very particular attitude towards listening. Not only it takes you on a tour of experimentation and understanding the fundamentals of sound and our relation to it, but it also gives a vocabulary. The one you can take outside and by implementing it connect to the others.
|never stops, always is and ever is gone as soon as it was :: sound is, to me, the all engaging and ever so ungraspable, yet most palpable of all senses to experience ::
traveling through and staying stuck in, pin-poiting to and distracting from :: it can tell stories of concrete molecules and ceasing gases :: it is inside and around at once and it is steerable waves and yet reveals itself to be mostly disobedient to all rules :: at EPAS i am mostly privileged to find a safe harbor to built this ship that will prepare me for my adventures of the oceanS of souDns
During this first months at EPAS I have acquired another level of awareness of what sound is, its ways and the potential that lies within it. A new world has opened up to me, new corners of the time and space in our illusion.
HANS DE WIT
|Sound is everywhere; it’s around us, and it changes constantly.
An awareness of sound enables experiencing a beautiful auditory world, a composed world, which can trigger narratives.
Through intensive modules you create a personal listening behaviour, you make sound compositions and discuss them in a very stimulating environment.
You embrace different perceptions and learn how to improve your storytelling through sound.
I love it.
EPAS facilitates an environment to think and discuss sound with artists from different backgrounds. I feel encouraged to explore and shape the possibilities of sound in various ways.
|EPAS is a journey through the world of sound and the way we experience it, and offers a nurturing environment for personal artistic quests. It is a road opener if you are searching for your way. It is a brief but incredibly powerful encounter of great personalities, mentors and students alike. I am profoundly grateful to our teachers and, to the same extent, to my extremely gifted colleagues, for helping me expand my artistic and personal horizons. Every day spent in their presence provides knowledge that I am sure I will keep with me for many years to come|
|I couldn’t really have wished for a better program!
EPAS is a real journey of discovery.
Each day my awareness of sound grows and grows, stretching my understanding of how I experience the world around me and revealing new possibilities of using sound creatively.
